Germany is one of Europe’s largest countries and also its richest. Despite the destructive turbulence of the twentieth century, which laid waste to many of Germany’s most spectacular landmarks, Germany still boasts some of the most beautiful cities on the continent with Cologne, Dresden, Bremen, Munich and Nuremburg displaying rich medieval and baroque architecture and vibrant cultural scenes. Berlin is the country’s political capital and has long had a reputation for having some of the best nightlife in Europe, whilst its economic capital is Frankfurt – a city where a futuristic financial centre rubs shoulders with an ancient and delightfully folky old town. There’s something for everyone in Germany and enough stunning attractions to keep you coming back year after year.
