Mellieha Bay Holidays

Mellieha is a very pretty old town on the northern coast of Malta. It offers relaxing and rejuvenating holidays under gorgeous Mediterranean skies. The town boasts an 800 metre stretch of golden sandy beach – one of the longest on the whole island. Here, you’ll find sun loungers and parasols and will have the opportunity of having a go at a number of water sports including windsurfing, waterskiing and sailing. The sea here is very clear and is great for snorkelling.

The old town of Mellieha is a 20-minute walk from the beach and commands excellent views of the sea. It boasts a number of beautiful, historic buildings including the grand, baroque church of St Paul’s. There is a fairly low-key nightlife here, with a number of small and charming tavernas and some excellent seafood restaurants. For a more vibrant bar and club scene, you could take the 20 minute bus ride to the nearby city of Bugibba. Other locations which are well worth a visit in the area include the island’s capital – Valletta and the magnificent prehistoric temple complex of Ta’Hagrat. It’s a thirty minute drive to Mdina – the former Maltese capital where you can see some beautiful and ancient architecture.
