Czech Republic Holidays

The Czech Republic is located in central Europe and despite its diminutive size, it boasts a great profusion of stunning attractions – both natural and man made. Formed of the two main areas of Bohemia and Moravia, it boasts gorgeous landscapes of soaring mountain ranges, dense and ancient forests, lakes rivers and networks of caves. The Czech Republic has experienced a long and hugely chequered history during which it has been a part of the Bohemian Empire and the Austro Hungarian Empire before latterly becoming a half of Czechoslovakia and then experiencing German occupation followed by a half century behind the iron curtain. This varied and sometimes troubled history has left in its wake a veritable treasure trove of stunning historic cities, castles and ancient chateaus. This is a country that richly rewards exploration and return visits.

The capital of The Czech Republic and its most visited destination is Prague – a stunning achievement of gothic and baroque architecture and a place with an exuberant spirit and vibrant nightlife. There are many other stunning historic destinations well worth visiting though, including the cities of Brno, Ceske Budejovice, Cesky Krumlov and Olomouc. Lovers of the great outdoors will relish the Bohemian landscapes of regions like Cesky Raj which is dotted with ancient villages and spectacular castles.
